About Brittany’s Therapy Journey
Brittany spent time early in her career working with adults with what was considered severe and persistent mental illness as well as women who were in domestic violent relationships. Seeing a need and meeting several adolescents Brittany switched her focus to working with children and their families. This is where Brittany was introduced to trauma and its impacts on the entire family. Brittany then became trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral (TF-CBT) and Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) to help families work through trauma and learn how to problem solve to change behaviors.
Through working with the parents of traumatized children Brittany learned that many of those parents were victims of childhood trauma themselves that they hadn’t processed or truly dealt with. Brittany then begin studying and learning more about how childhood trauma impacts adults and from there Brittany begin working with adults with traumatic backgrounds. Brittany has spent the last few years working with adults who have anxiety and are living with childhood trauma that is impacting them today. Brittany is an Approved Consultant in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and she uses it with her clients to target anxiety and past trauma.  Through this work Brittany realized that many of her clients were blocking themselves due to their anxiety and past trauma. This led to Brittany writing her book Get Out of Your Own Way, 21 Days to Stop Self Sabotage.
